About this event

Healthwatch Hillingdon in partnership with H4All, Hillingdon Mind, and POhWER, are hosting a virtual wellbeing event for Hillingdon residents. 

Hillingdon Virtual Summer Wellbeing Day will take place virtually on Wednesday 11 August between 10am – 3pm. Participants will be treated to a day of wellbeing themed workshops aimed at boosting their mental health and wellbeing and aiding relaxation. 

Whether you want to learn about growing a garden or fancy partaking in some gentle exercise, there will be something for everyone, so don’t miss out! 

The programme is as follows:

10 am| Ways to Wellbeing
It's important to take care of your physical and mental wellbeing. Making simple changes to how you live doesn't need to cost a fortune or take up loads of time. Come and find out about steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing, trying a few simple things can help you feel more positive and get the most out of life.
 
11-11.45 am| Getting Started with Gardening with Simon 
The saying goes that ‘life begins the day you start gardening’. It gets you outside, connects you with nature. It’s scientifically proven to be good for mental and physical health. To help start your journey join us for a beginner’s guide to growing your own fruit and vegetables. Get some real tips and tricks to get you growing.
 
12 - 12.45 pm| Qi-Gong with Andrew
Stress produces a chemical in your body called cortisol which negatively affects us mentally and physically. Qi gong is stress reduction without the stress of exercise. By combining light stretching with breathing and movement the result is “Homeostasis” - Balance in the body and mind. Proven relief from anxiety or depression, lowering stress, preventing illness & increasing longevity.
 
12.45 - 1.30 pm| Lunch break
 
1.30 pm| Mindfulness Meditation with Georgina
Mindfulness Meditation helps calm both the mind and body, slow down racing thoughts and let go of negativity. Come along to this taster session to experience the benefits and learn some tips to help you relax.
 
2.15 pm| Sound Therapy 
Sound can positively affect our entire being. It has been used by many cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing and to enhance meditation. The use of Sound Therapy is a powerful way to move us into a state of balance, restore harmony in our lives, and instill an overall sense of wellbeing.
