Healthwatch Hillingdon Statement on the Care Quality Commission Report of The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The report states that the Trust has a committed workforce, which is providing good care and identifies a number of areas where the Trust needs to improve.
“We feel that the Care Quality Commission’s overall rating of ‘Requires Improvement’ is a fair reflection of the services being provided at both Hillingdon and Mount Vernon hospitals.
It was not a surprise that the report highlighted the condition of some of the hospitals buildings. Through our involvement in the Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment, and by listening to the feedback we receive from patients, we recognise that the Trust requires significant investment in the infrastructure of its estates.
We also acknowledge that at a time when the NHS is under great pressure that it has been a challenge for the Trust to maintain optimum levels of staff.
On the whole patients tell us they are provided with good quality care at both hospitals. However we must continue to be vigilant to those pressures that can undermine good care, and work with the Trust to ensure that all patients and carers receive safe, effective and high quality care.
We work closely with The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and are assured they are committed to improving the quality of the services their patients experience and we will work with the Trust and other local partners to ensure that the CQC’s recommendations are implemented so as to improve the care of patients”.
