Children and Young People’s Mental Health Support; A Vision for Hillingdon

Mental health has become one of the biggest challenges facing children and young people today, and those living in Hillingdon are no exception. Whether it’s school stress, bullying, or not knowing where to turn for support, too many young people are struggling with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Throughout 2024-25, in partnership with the North West London Integrated Care Board (NWL ICB), we carried out extensive research across Hillingdon’s young community. We wanted to hear directly from children, young people and families about what’s affecting them, what support they want, and what changes they believe are needed to improve mental health and wellbeing support in Hillingdon.

Our report provides a comprehensive review of the issues that significantly affect children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, with a roadmap for health and care professionals that outlines where improvements can be made.

To accompany our report, we worked with the London Youth Urban Arts Foundation to produce a new Young Healthwatch Hillingdon podcast that amplifies the voices of children and young people on the issue of mental health. This is available to listen to on You Tube alongside our other podcasts on mental health myth busting and coping with school and exam stress.
