Healthwatch Hillingdon Publishes NHS Long Term Plan Report

-->

Healthwatch Hillingdon has published it’s local report on the NHS Long Term plan, as a result of the #WhatWouldYouDo campaign launched by Healthwatch England. With every Healthwatch around the country working with their STP’s and local CCG’s around the long term plan and it’s key priorities, feedback from the public has been sought to understand how NHS services could be improved, and what is important to them in the services they receive. Work was undertaken through surveys for general feedback, and for those with specific conditions, and focus groups. In Hillingdon, one focus group in particular was centred around Mental Health.

In the report, key points of consideration and recommendations made include:

“Resources should be used to focus on prevention and early diagnosis in order to reduce pressures on the NHS”.

Focus Group Participant
  • Users of the service are asking for more opportunities to be informed and be able to influence services particularly events and focus groups. Co-production of plans with patients is a must.
  • Information and advice for patients needs to be more readily available and in plain English.
  • The move towards more holistic and integrated health and care services is welcomed and should continue.
  • Develop further health care professionals’ customer care skills.

A North West London report has also been produced, collating the results of the engagement activities carried out by local Healthwatch in Brent, Central West London (Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Westminster), Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow.
